Dresden

Dresden is situated in the south-eastern part of Saxony, on the River Elbe, it is the fourth largest city in Germany

It has over 515 thousand inhabitants. It is worth to visit the city to see, among other monuments, the church of Our Lady, opera house designed by Gotfried Semper, and, first of all, a baroque Zwinger palace, currently a museum, which houses the Old Masters Picture Gallery, Collection of Porcelain, or the Mathematical-Physical Salon.
When in Dresden, one should stop by the Pfunds Dairy, believed to be “the most beautiful dairy shop on the world”.

Dresden vaunts great musical traditions. Numerous festivals are held here, such as: the Dresden Music Festival and the International Dixieland Festival; also, many orchestras are active here, including the Saxon State Orchestra, the Dresden Philharmonic, and the Dresden Boys’ Choir. Another attraction of this region are festivities on the banks of Elbe, during which, in June, in five cities on the river banks, over 200 different events take place.
The partnership contacts between Dresden and Wroclaw were established in 1963, and the partnership agreement was updated in 1991
